London Shop Fronts

November 13th, 2008

My friend ewebber has just started a new tumblr dedicated to photography of London shop fronts. They are the sort of scenes Londoners walk past and ignore every day. But seeing them like this makes you look at them in a completely new way, as if looking at them as a tourist. The colours and degradation of the paint give them real character. And the names of some of the shops like ‘Glamorous Dry Cleaners’ hint at the ambitions that the owners may have once had about the places. The random spots of graffiti make them look all the more gritty. There’s certainly evidence of some genuine patina here.

Go and look at it, it’s good.
